I added a 'border=1' tag to the table tag, in order for you to see the exact boundaries of this table and page. This table is 615 pixels wide.

Using your mouse, resize this window and see what happens. If you make the window smaller than the table's width, it will simply move around the contents to adjust to the size of the window. However, if you make the window larger (if your screen resolution is higher than 640 x 480), you will see that the table width remains the same.

Now, if this page had graphic files in it, and you made the window smaller, it would only resize itself small enough to contain the graphic.
